Charge points*

The public charging infrastructure in Europe is growing steadily. Fast-charging stations from various charging station providers can be found on all motorways and major roads. The number of charge points in urban areas is also growing steadily.

MB.CHARGE Public gives you access to one of the largest charging networks in Europe. This means you can also charge your vehicle abroad without any problems. You can find all integrated charge points in the map, the app or the head unit. You can also enjoy complete convenience at home, as the Mercedes-Benz Wallbox is fully integrated into the Mercedes-Benz app.

Plug types

Your Mercedes-Benz app and head unit show which charging stations have the right plug for your vehicle.

At AC charging stations, type 2 plugs are the most common, but some have type 1 plugs as well. DC charging stations have either CCS or CHAdeMO plugs; European car manufacturers use the CCS standard.

Duration

The duration of a charging event depends on various factors: the battery capacity, the vehicle’s maximum charging speed, as well as the charging station’s speed and capacity. Public charge points come in the following types:

Alternating current (AC), direct current (DC) and High Power Charging (HPC). High Power Charging also charges with direct current, but uses a charging power of at least 150 kW.

Charging your vehicle

To charge at a public charge point, you must first authenticate yourself. This can be done in various ways: with your charge card, with the Mercedes-Benz app, in the head unit or through Plug & Charge. This activates the charging event. You can then plug the cable into your vehicle. In some cases, the cables are not locked and you can plug them in before authentication. Once the charging cable is plugged in, it’s locked securely at both ends before the charging event starts. To complete the charging event and to unplug the charging cable, simply unlock your vehicle to disconnect the cable. At some charging stations you need to terminate the process manually via app, charge card or the head unit.
